Time is expanding then contracting and doing all sorts of weird things, so here's a mid-month listicle a bit later than mid-month.

Fave current event: spring. I started kale seeds inside which are now sprouting, am now planning what goes where and when in the various beds. Short version: tomatoes, cucumbers, some herbs, zucchini, marigolds, zinnias on the porch.
Fave horn tooting: FIRST FICTION PUBLICATION OF THE YEAR! The March 2025 issue of speculative fiction journal Luna Station Quarterly published my story "Wind Whisperers" and I am thrilled. https://www.lunastationquarterly.com/issues/061/
Fave pony defying gravity: check out this photo of my pony, Maple. In the endurance world, they call this shot "All Four Off the Floor." Really, she's cantering to dinner, but delightful nonetheless. Love that little mare.
All four off the floor! Credit: A. O'Brien Fave music: Lady Gaga recently released a new album titled Mayhem. It's got some serious bops, taking us back to her pop roots. Great to pull you out of what remains of winter misery.
Fave overlook: the Signal Knob loop in the George Washington National Forest has been on my list for a while and we finally hiked it a few weeks ago. Superb overlook (which makes sense given its historical significance in the Civil War) and grand hike all around. About 10 miles. Definitely recommend if you're in the VA/WV/MD area.
