You May Often. . . or The 2 pm Blues

My most despised time of day is 2 pm. What an awful time. Mid-afternoon. The productivity and exuberance of the morning gone. Lunch done. Sleepy but yet the rest of the day yawns before you. 2 pm forces upon you the decision: coffee? Or wine? Not something to be answered without serious consideration.

Given that it's Christmas ("Merry Crisis!"] and 2 pm, I have chosen wine. Ice wine. The most beloved of wines. Shut up if you think otherwise. Thick and sweet but always in an annoyingly small bottle. This choice has made today's 2 pm substantially better, accompanied by the potential of more typos. But we venture forth. Here is what the original post was going to open with before I had my little merry 2 pm crisis:

You may often make to-do lists (I am THE QUEEN of to-do lists [challenge me not] but are you a special type of psycho that makes lists of all the lists you have to make???). I am a special psycho.

I digress. Sometimes there are things that come up that aren’t so much about physically doing something (paying a bill, finishing a book, going for a run, vaccinating your horse) but instead making time to think about something. (I just typed somethink and maybe I meant it?)

Do you ever make a list of things you need to spend time thinking about? Lately, I keep forgetting slash maybe procrastinating subconsciously about planning for an epic bike ride that is coming up in July 2025 (RAGBRAI, bike across Iowa in one week, let’s gooooooooooooooooo). I am a Logistics Person and love planning the hell out of trips but this one’s got me stuck a bit, I think because there are a lot of unknowns still in play: need to figure out how to ship my bike, need to figure out how to get to the start line and how to get home from the finish line as I do not live anywhere near Iowa, need to figure out plane tickets, etc., etc. Hence, I need to sit down with a map and a pencil and large sheet of paper because I am old school and ATID (Analog Til I Die). So, on the Think List it goes.

PS – Happy holidays. Currently, I'm in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I love me a barrier island.

I’ll post my list of 2024 books read either at the end of Dec. or the start of Jan. For 2025 I am trying out something different and going to revise the format of this scrappy glob of electronic mind goo. Don’t worry, it will still be the same irreverent keyboard vomit that really has nothing to do with anything, but in listicle format twice a month, around the 15th and 30th. We'll see how it works for all three of my readers. And me. Cheers.
